The Art Supervisor is a hands-on creative leader responsible for developing compelling visual communications that inspire engagement with healthcare brands across all channels. This role demands a strong passion for crafting purposeful, strategic design that resonates with professional and consumer audiences alike—tailored thoughtfully to each message, medium, and audience.
With a keen ability to conceptualize visually and communicate vital, actionable information, the Art Supervisor partners closely with Copywriters, UX Designers, Client Services, Insights & Strategy, and clients to ensure all creative output aligns with brand strategy and business objectives.
In addition to leading design and art direction from project initiation through final delivery, the Art Supervisor also oversees a team of Art Directors and Designers—managing workload, assigning resources, and providing ongoing mentorship, feedback, and coaching to elevate the creative standard and grow team capabilities.
Success in this role requires strong digital fluency, conceptual thinking, and leadership skills to ensure the creative work not only stands out—but drives results.
Duties / Responsibilities:
• Report to the Group Art Supervisor, and keep them updated on
the management of the workload and team
• Manage the workload and mentor the art team assigned to the account(s)
Present all design work to the with a high level of competence and confidence with their copy
partner(s), as creative subject matter experts; clearly articulate design rationale that are backed
up with strategic supporting evidence and insight
• Originate fresh, innovative concepts and transform them into effective design across multiple
platforms and campaigns, including presentations, other digital tactics, and print materials
• Demonstrates a proven understanding of layout, type and color in both digital and print design
• Deliver high quality design work while meeting deadlines and staying on budget, and on brief
• Collaborate with copywriters to create effective communication solutions that meet
strategic objectives
• Manage brands through their lifecycle, including launch. Develop design
consistent with brand guidelines, messaging, tone, and voice
• Flex across multiple clients and adapt to an ever-changing workflow
• Create prototypes & mockups to illustrate the project's concept and requirements
• Review creative briefs to provide constructive feedback; provide estimates to projects
Skills and Qualifications:
• Excellent design skills, demonstrated through a compelling, proven portfolio of work
demonstrating exceptional conceptual thinking, and strong visual communication solutions
across digital (web, mobile,) video and print platforms
• Advanced knowledge of web usability & user experience best practices, digital best practices,
techniques, and tools, with a strong comprehension of how content and functionality work
together, including a working understanding of IA & UI prototyping
• Understanding of the capabilities of web design, including knowledge of appropriate file formats,
resolution, compression, style guides, and responsive design across platforms
• Mastery of appropriate design techniques and disciplines (graphic, iconography, data
visualization, typography, grid systems, visual hierarchy, color theory and systems,
and composition)
• Knows how to adhere to brand identity and brand style guides
• Possesses strong verbal communication and presentation skills, able to articulate ideas in a
clear manner and accept directional feedback
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD etc.) and Microsoft
Office
• Demonstrates multi-tasking skills and ability adapt to shifting priorities and tight turnarounds
• Able to create time estimates for work on each project
• Operates as a team player but can also manage projects on your own
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills; works well within a team environment
Education / Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in design or related area of study
• At least 7 years of experience as an art director (both digital and print) within a fast-paced
agency environment
• Social media marketing, photography/video/editing, UX/UI design experience a plus
• Experience gained in the Healthcare/Pharmaceutical field preferred
• Experience bringing a product to launch including production of photo/video shoots
Working Conditions:
• Hybrid working if within 40 miles of a Relevate Health Office (Dallas, Cincinnati, New Jersey)
• Remote working if outside 40 miles of a Relevate Health Office
• Travel may apply based on position
• Hours may vary based on position and location of client
